The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 238 points at 11,245 on the back of negative cues from the global markets. Markets across the globle were in red today on fears of global recession.
Unabated selling mainly in capital goods and metal stocks saw the index drift deeper into red as the day progressed. The Sensex tumbled to a low of 10,761 - down 722 points from the previous close, and finally settled with a loss of 688 points at 10,796.
