Sensex ends down 87 pts

Sensex has ended (provisional) down 87 points at 19,914. Nifty has ended at 5,982 - down 27 points.

Markets are trading near the day's lows as investors booked profits after yesterday's smart run. European markets also opened weak.

Nifty is at 5,986 - down 23 points.

European shares have dropped today on recovery worries and banking stocks. The CAC has dropped 1% to 3,746. DAX has shed 1% to 6,216. FTSE is also down in trades.

Jaiprakash Associates has shed 3% at Rs 120. Reliance Communications, Cairn India and Larsen & Toubro have dropped over 2% each.

Other losers include IT stocks- HCL Tech, TCS and Infosys - down 1.5% each. Bharti Airtel and DLF are in red.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki has gained 3.2% at Rs 1,413. ABB, ITC, HDFC and SBI have added 1% each
