The index moved in a narrow range of 151 points - low of 9,502, and a high of 9,653.
Realty, auto and TECk stocks were the major losers today.
The Sensex finally ended (provisional) with a loss of 88 points at 9,599.
The NSE Nifty settled (provisional) with a loss of 40 points at 2,929.
The market breadth was fairly negative - out of 2,507 stocks traded, 1,497 declined, 920 advanced and the rest were unchanged today.
