Sensex ends up 100pts

The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 17,933 - up 100 points. The Nifty ended u(provisional) at 5380 - up 27 points.

Markets continue to trade in lacklustre fashion fter paring some of its gains. The Sensex had earlier touched a high of 18,010 but slipped from there on a lower-than-expected IIP growth.

The Sensex is now up 93 points at 17,927.

The Nifty is up 31 points at 5,383.

BSE oil & gas index has slipped the most, followed by consumer durables, healthcare and PSU indices.

Reliance Infrastructure has shed 2% at Rs 1,151. Hero Honda and ONGC have dropped 1.5% each to Rs 1,981 and Rs 1,277, respectively.

Reliance Communications, ACC, Jindal Steel and Cipla have also declined around 1% each.

Meanwhile, Tata Motors has added 2.2% at Rs 788. HDFC Bank has jumped 2.2% to Rs 2,048.

DLF and TCS have advanced 2% each to Rs 301 and Rs 789, respectively.

ICICI Bank, BHEL, Jaiprakash Associates, SBI, HDFC and Wipro have adanced 1-25 each.

BSE market breadth is positive. Out of 2969 stocks traded, 1,569 have advanced while 1,294 have declined.
