Sensex ends up 151pts at 9,617

The Sensex today opened 75 points higher at 9,541 on the back of positive cues from the global markets. The index, displayed firm trend throughout the day even as the Railway minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, today presented the interim Railway Budget 2009.

Steady buying in metal, capital goods, banking, realty and energy stocks led the index rally to a high of 9,696. The Sensex finally (provisional) ended with a gain of 151 points at 9,617.
