Sensex ends up 201pts at 18,714

The Sensex opened a tad higher at 18,519 - up six points. Nervousness in the opening trades saw the index slip to a low of 18,460, but the index soon rebounded into the positive zone. Steady buying, thereafter, saw the index climb up as the day progressed.

The index touched a high of 18,900 - up 440 points from the day's low. The Sensex, however, pared gains at close and finally ended (provisional) at 18,714 - up 201 points.
