The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 75 points at 15,513, and soon slipped to a low of 15,465. Fresh buying at lower levels helped the index recoup losses and rebound into the positive zone. Renewed buying interest in banking, capital goods and metal stocks saw the index rally to a high of 15,829 - up 365 points from the day's low - towards the fag end of the day. The Sensex finally ended (provisional) with a gain of 234 points at 15,822. The NSE Nifty settled (provisional) with a gain of 45 points at 4,754. |
