Sensex ends up 240pts

The Sensex has finally ended (provisional) at 16,454, up 240 points.

The NSE Nifty has finally ended (provisional) at 4,893, up 84 points.

The Sensex is exhibiting sideways movement and is now at 16,453, up 239 points.

The NSe Nifty is now at 4,890, up 81 points.

DLF has surged over 4% to Rs 408. Hero Honda has rallied 3.5% to Rs 1,616.

Hindalco, Sterlite and Jaiprakash Associates have gained nearly 3% each to Rs 124, Rs 740 and Rs 237, respectively.

SBI has advanced 2.5% to Rs 2,007. HDFC, Tata Steel and ITC have added around 2% each to Rs 2,554, Rs 488 and Rs 229, respectively.

ICICI Bank, NTPC, Reliance Infrastructure, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are up 1-1.5% each.

Among the NIfty stocks, Jindal Steel has jumped over 7% to Rs 616. Siemens has added nearly 3% to Rs 531.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,838 stocks, 1,768 have advanced, while 991 have declined.
