Sensex ends up 312pts at 13,696

Backed with a solid performance last week, the Sensex opened with a positive gap of 95 points at 13,479, and went on to move higher as the day progressed. Unabated buying in cement, metal, FMCG and oil stocks fueled today's upmove.

The Sensex touched a high of 13,708, before settling with a hefty gain of 312 points (2.3%) at 13,696. In the process, the index has now gained 582 points (4.4) in the last two trading days.
