The Sensex after opening 77 points higher at 9,226, soon advanced to a high of 9,338 backed by positive cues from the overseas markets. However, selling pressure at higher levels forced the index to parge gains as the day progressed.
The Sensex finally (provisional) ended with a gain of 41 points at 9,191.
