Sensex ends up 43pts; Rel Energy zooms 6%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 57 points at 15479, and moved to a high of 15,521 in morning trades. Profit-taking saw the index slip into red and hit a low of 15,390 - down 131 points from the day's high.

The Sensex, however, rebounded into positive zone and finished with a gain of 43 points at 15,465.

The BSE Realty index surged nearly 2% to 7462, and the Healthcare index gained over 1% at 3680.

The market breadth was fairly positive - out of 2,790 stocks traded, 1,745 advanced, 991 declined and 54 were unchanged today.

INDEX MOVERS....

Reliance Energy zoomed 6% to Rs 823. HDFC rallied 3% to Rs 2,060.

Cipla soared 4.5% to Rs 180. Ranbaxy moved up 2.7% to Rs 407.

Grasim surged 3% to Rs 3,023. ACC gained 2.5% at Rs 1,098, and Ambuja Cements added 1.5% to Rs 136.

Maruti, Infosys and Larsen & Toubro were up around 1.5% each at Rs 894, Rs 1,889 and Rs 2,623, respectively.

...AND THE SHAKERS

NTPC, Hindalco and Wipro dropped around 2% each to Rs 181, Rs 157 and Rs 466, respectively.

Tata Motors shed 1.7% to Rs 691. BHEL, Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 1,911, Rs 2,286 and Rs 859, respectively.

ITC, Tata Steel, ONGC and Dr.Reddy's were down around 1% each at Rs 172, Rs 683, Rs 833 and Rs 659, respectively.

MOST ACTIVE COUNTERS

Take Solutions topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 422.70 crore followed by Reliance Energy (Rs 190 crore), IFCI (Rs 140.50 crore), Reliance (Rs 107.40 crore) and Everonn Systems (Rs 97.60 crore).

Nagarjuna Fertilisers led the volume chart with trades of around 2.10 crore shares followed by IFCI (1.98 crore), IKF Technologies (1.71 crore), JCT (1.34 crore) and Reliance Natural (1.32 crore).
