The Sensex opened almost flat at 9,590 - up six points. The index after slipping a bit, recovered and rallied to a high of 9,725 led by fresh buying in realty and capital goods stocks.

However, a sudden bout of profit-taking in noon trades saw the index slip into red to a low of 9,511 - down 214 points from the day's high. The Sensex, however, rebounded into the positive zone and finally ended (provisional) with a gain of 50 points at 9,634.
