The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 104 points at 10,379. Earlier in the day, the index opened 18 points lower at 10,258 on mixed global cues. The index, thereafter, slipped to a low of 10,230, before rebounding into the positive territory.
Grasim has soared 6% to Rs 1,305, and Satyam has surged 5.5% to Rs 176.
HDFC has rallied nearly 5% to Rs 1,707. Sterlite and Mahindra & Mahindra have moved up 4.7% each to Rs 316 and Rs 310, respectively.
ACC has moved up 4.5% to Rs 529. Tata Motors and ICICI Bank have advanced around 4% each at Rs 186 and Rs 519, respectively.
HDFC Bank has added 3.3% to Rs 1,077. BHEL is up over 3% at Rs 1,483.
Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel have plunged 3% each to Rs 256 and Rs 665, respectively.

DLF and Tata Power have shed around 1.5% each at Rs 291 and Rs 818, respectively.
NTPC and Infosys are down 1.3% each at Rs 179 and Rs 1,159, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,387 stocks traded so far, 1,435 have advanced, 866 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
