Sensex extends gains, up 121pts

The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 121 points at 10,925.

Tata Steel has zoomed nearly 9% to Rs 284, and Tata Motors has soared 8.5% to Rs 244.

Sterlite has surged 6.7% to Rs 422. SBI has rallied 6% to Rs 1,208.

HDFC Bank has gained 5.5% at Rs 1,105. ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra added moved up around 5% each to Rs 418 and Rs 456, respectively.

DLF has advanced 3.7% to Rs 231. Reliance Communications and Hindalco have added 2.7% each to Rs 218 and Rs 60, respectively.

Maruti is up 2.3% at Rs 826. Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure are up 2% each at Rs 116 and Rs 666, respectively.

 

Wipro has plunged over 3% to Rs 266, and TCS has shed 2.5% at Rs 588.

Hindustan Unilever, NTPC and Infosys are down aorund 1.5% each at Rs 229, Rs 192 and Rs 1,408, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,485 stocks traded so far, 1,958 have advanced, 463 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
