The Sensex today opened at 11,358, up 73 points from the previous close. The index touched a high of 11,367, and then slipped into the negative zone. The index has extended losses and is now down 172 points at 11,112.
DLF has soared 5.5% to Rs 271. Hindalco has rallied 5% to Rs 65. Jaiprakash Associates has surged 4% to Rs 127.
Reliance Communications has gained 3% to Rs 237. Reliance Infrastructure and Maruti Suzuki have gone up 2.5% each to Rs 729 and Rs 869, respectively.
Grasim and Bharati Airtel have added more than 2% each. Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever,Sun Pharma and SBI are also up by 1-2% each.
However, Ranbaxy has slumped 3% to Rs 194. Infosys and Mahindra & Mahindra are down more than 2% each.
The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,308 stocks traded, 1,419 have advanced, and 820 have declined.
