Sensex extends losses, down 240pts

The Sensex continues to slip further and is now down 238 points at 14,865.

The BSE Realty index has slipped further, down 6% to 3,793.

Infosys and Wipro have advanced over 2% each  to Rs 1,730 and Rs 401, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and Grasim have added over 1% at Rs 1,539 and Rs 2,542, respectively.

Tata Steel, SBI and Jaiprakash Associates have slumped over 5.5% each to Rs 437, Rs 1,715 and Rs 219, respectively.

DLF, Reliance Infrastructures, Sterlite,Hindalco and Ranbaxy have slipped 4-5% each to Rs 388, Rs 1,169, Rs 643, Rs 89 and Rs 273, respectively.

ONGC, ICICI Bank, Reliance Communications, ACC, HDFC, ITC, BHEL, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are down 1-3% each.

 

The market breadth is still negative, out of 2,757 shares traded, 1,987 have declined and 719 have advanced so far on the BSE.
