Sensex extends losses, down over 100pts

The Sensex has extended losses and is now down 118 points at 8,884.

Larsen & Toubro and ICICI Bank have slumped nearly 4% each to Rs 586 and Rs 326, respectively. DLF has tumbled 3.5% to Rs 167.

BHEL has shed 2.7% at Rs 1,375. SBI has dropped 2% to Rs 948.

Reliance Communications, Wipro, Tata Motors and Bharti Airtel have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 154, Rs 229, Rs 169 and Rs 562, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, ACC and TCS have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 477, Rs 538 and Rs 507, respectively.

Reliance, Jaiprakash Associates, HDFC and Maruti are down 1% each at Rs 1,329, Rs 79, Rs 1,373 and Rs 722, respectively.

 

Hindalco has surged 2.5% to Rs 46. Tata Power has advanced over 1% to Rs 670.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,256 stocks traded so far, 1,165 have declined, and 976 have advanced.
