Sensex extends losses in Budget session

The Sensex has extended losses and is now down 160 points at 9,474.

Sterlite and HDFC Bank have plunged 3% each to Rs 267 and Rs 918, respectively.

Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel have shed nearly 3% each to Rs 177 and Rs 635, respectively.

SBI, Ranbaxy, ONGC and ACC have dropped 2.3% each.

Tata Power and Wipro have slipped 2% each.

ICICI Bank, Reliance, Jaiprakash Associates and ITC are the other major losers.

Tata Motors, however, has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 140.

The market breadth is neutral - out of 1,913 stocks traded so far, 926 have advanced, 907 have declined.
