Sensex firm; breadth marginally +ve

The Sensex crossed the 10,000-mark and touched a high of 10,016. The index is now up 239 points at 9,955. Earlier in the day, the index had pared early gains and slipped to a low of 9,633.

Satyam has zoomed 7.5% to Rs 170. DLF and ACC have soared over 6% each to Rs 269 and Rs 516, respectively.

ICICI Bank and SBI have rallied 5.7% each to Rs 457 and Rs 1,269, respectively.

ITC has surged nearly 5% to Rs 181. Reliance Infrastructure and TCS have moved up around 4.5% each to Rs 574 and Rs 499, respectively.

BHEL and HDFC Bank are up over 4% each at Rs 1,396 and Rs 1,043, respectively.

 

Tata Steel, Sterlite and Hindalco have dropped around 2.5% each at Rs 213, Rs 265 and Rs 53, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,389 stocks traded so far, 1,288 have advanced, 1,021 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
