Sensex firm; DLF slumps 11%

The Sensex is now up 131 points at 9,197. Earlier in the day, the index opened 62 points higher at 9,129, and soon touched a high of 9,225. The index, thereafter, had slipped into red to a low of 9,041 - down 184 points from the day's high.

Grasim has soared nearly 7% to Rs 1,270, and ACC has surged 4.7% to Rs 516.

Maruti has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 588. ONGC and Reliance have gained 2.8% each at Rs 657 and Rs 1,311, respectively.

ITC and BHEL have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 182 and Rs 1,340, respectively.

 

Bharti Airtel and Wipro have added 2.3% each to Rs 630 and Rs 225, respectively.

TCS and ICICI Bank have advanced 2% each to Rs 502 and Rs 393, respectively.

DLF has slumped nearly 11% to Rs 137. Tata Motors has tumbled nearly 7% to Rs 133.

Hindalco and NTPC are down over 1.5% each at Rs 45 and Rs 178, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,371 stocks traded so far, 1,199 have declined, 1,056 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
