Sensex firm; HUL, DLF slip 1%

The Sensex is now up 132 points at 8,954.

Mahindra & Mahindra has zoomed over 6% to Rs 314.

Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Motors have surged 4.3% each to Rs 510 and Rs 138, respectively.

Hindalco has rallied 3.7% to Rs 41. ICICI Bank and Tata Steel have moved up 3% each to Rs 345 and Rs 165, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Bharti Airtel have gained around 2.5% each at Rs 68 and Rs 653, respectively.

Infosys, Wipro, Reliance, SBI and ONGC are up around 2% each.

Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and DLF, however, are down 1% each at Rs 250 and Rs 156, respectively.

 

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,215 stocks traded so far, 1,369 have advanced, 770 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
