Sensex firm in early trades

The Sensex opened flat at 17,602 and has now firm at 17,699, up 100 points. The NSE Nifty is 27 points higher at  5,289.

DLF has advanced 1.5% to Rs 313. It is followed by Bharti Airtel. Hero Honda and Sun Pharma, up 1% each.

Grasim Industries, ITC and Sterlite on the other hand are down 0.5% each.

The market breadth is positive, out of 1,340 shares traded, 1,017 have advanced and 296 have declined so far on the BSE.
