Sensex firm; Realty index up 3%

The Sensex is firm and is now at 14,539, up 116 points.

The BSE Realty index has zoomed 3% to 3,353.

Sterlite has gained 3.5% at Rs 592.

Hindalco, Grasim and Jaiprakash Associates have advanced over 3% each to Rs 87, Rs 2,392 and Rs 219, respectively.

DLF, ICICI Bank, HDFC, Reliance Communications and Infosys have added over 2% each to Rs 328, Rs 704, Rs 2,360 and Rs 308, respectively.

ONGC has slipped around 2% to Rs 1,031.

NTPC and Hindustan Unilever are down over 1% each.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,084 shares traded, 1,535 shares have advanced and 492 have declined so far on the BSE.
