Sensex firm; SBI, ICICI Bank soar 6%

The Sensex is firm around higher levels and is now up 385 points at 14,433. Financial and realty stocks continue to lead the upmove.

SBI and ICICI Bank have zoomed over 6% each to Rs 1,393 and Rs 673, respectively. HDFC Bank and HDFC have soared over 4% each to Rs 1,266 and Rs 2,340, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has surged 4.7% to Rs 979. DLF and Jaiprakash Associates have rallied over 4% each to Rs 488 and Rs 163, respectively.

Tata Motors has advanced nearly 4% to Rs 434. BHEL and Larsen & Toubro have gained over 3.5% each at Rs 1,690 and Rs 2,590, respectively.

 

Reliance Communications has moved up over 3% to Rs 398. Tata Steel, Maruti and and Sterlite are up around 2.5% each at Rs 588, Rs 646 and Rs 623, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,306 stocks traded so far, 1,633 have advanced, 597 have declined and 76 are unchanged.
