Sensex firms up; Reliance, Hind Unilever up 2%

The Sensex is now up 97 points at 14,341.

Hindalco has surged nearly 4% to Rs 134, and Sterlite has gained 3% at Rs 619.

Reliance Infrastructure has moved up nearly 3% to Rs 983. HDFC Bank has advanced 2.5% to Rs 1,194.

Hindustan Unilever and Reliance have rallied 2% each to Rs 241 and Rs 2,257, respectively.

Reliance Communications has added 1.7% to Rs 405, and ACC is up 1.5% at Rs 557.

Satyam has plunged 2.8% to Rs 388, and NTPC has shed 2.6% at Rs 169.

Grasim has dropped 1.8% to Rs 1,930. Larsen & Toubro is down 1% at Rs 2,599.

 

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,520 stocks traded so far, 1,262 have declined, 1,147 have advanced and 111 are unchanged.
