Sensex flat amid volatility

The Sensex is flat at 14,263, down 10 points.

The index slipped into negative terrain and touched a low of 14,169, after noon trades but had recovered partially and is exhibiting volatility now.

Sterlite has tumbled over 8% to Rs 577. Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Infrastructure have plunged 3.5% each to Rs 1,380 and Rs 1,067, respectively.

Hindalco, Jaiprakash Associates and HDFC have declined 2.5% each to Rs 77, Rs 201 and Rs 2,370, respectively.

SBI , ONGC, DLF, Hindustan Unilever, TCS have shed 1-1.5% each.

Tata Steel has rallied over 3% to Rs 393.
Tata Motors and Reliance have advanced  3% to Rs 297 and Rs 1,930, respectively.

Reliance, NTPC, Hero Honda, Reliance Communications, Wipro, Bharti Airtel, BHEL are the other gainers.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,557 stocks traded, 1,399 have advanced while 1069 have declined.
