The Sensex has once again recovered and is now almost flat 9,031 - down four points. Earlier in the day, the index opened 96 points lower at 8,939, touched a low of 8,922 in opening trades. The index, thereafter, rebounded into the positive zone and touched a high of 9,100.
HDFC and ICICI Bank have slumped nearly 4% each to Rs 1,376 and Rs 371, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure has plunged 3.5% to Rs 501. SBI and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 1,080 and Rs 293, respectively.
Hindalco and Hindustan Unilever are down 1% each at Rs 42 and Rs 249, respectively.
Sterlite has gained 2% at Rs 259. Reliance has added 1.5% to Rs 1,288.

Bharti Airtel, ONGC and Tata Motors have advanced over 1% each to Rs 640, Rs 685 and Rs 133, respectively.
ACC and Sun Pharma are also up 1% each at Rs 551 and Rs 1,059, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,134 stocks traded so far, 1,217 have declined, 827 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
