Sensex flat; HDFC shines, HLL whines

The Sensex tumbled to a low of 10,266 - down 331 points from the day's high of 10,597.

The index has recovered most of its losses and now is almost flat at 10,395 - down four points.

HLL has plunged 3.7% to Rs 225. Tata Power has shed 2.7% to Rs 484, and Larsen & Toubro has slipped 2.2% to Rs 2,267.

Bharti Tele, Ranbaxy and Tata Motors have declined 1.8% each to Rs 359, Rs 404 and Rs 776, respectively.

Reliance is down 1.5% at Rs 939. Satyam, TCS and Infosys have slipped over 1% each at Rs 682, Rs 1,760 and Rs 2,872, respectively.

HDFC has rallied 3.7% to Rs 1,167. BHEL and ICICI Bank have added 1.4% each to Rs 1,930 and Rs 544, respectively.

Hero Honda and HDFC Bank are up 1% each at Rs 779 and Rs 747, respectively.

Out of 2,087 stocks traded so far, 1,205 have declined, 835 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
