Sensex flat; Hindalco soars 5%

The Sensex is swinging in and out of the positive zone and is currenly unchanged at 11,663.

Hindalco has surged over 5% to Rs 202. Reliance and Tata Power have added 2% each to Rs 852 and Rs 599, respectively.

ACC, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, NTPC, Bharti Tele and HLL are the other smart gainers among the Sensex stocks.

TCS and Hero Honda have dropped 2.7% each to Rs 1,844 and Rs 846, respectively. Wipro has slipped 2.3% to Rs 524, and Satyam is down 1.7% to Rs 822.

Cipla, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, Infosys and Ranbaxy are the other notable losers.

Out of 2,412 stocks traded so far, 1,553 have advanced, 803 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Reliance tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 143.74 crore followed by Hindustan Zinc (Rs 124.44 crore), ACC (Rs 53.54 crore), Satyam (Rs 53 crore) and Tata Steel (Rs 51.84 crore).

IFCI leads the volume chart with trades of around 69.42 lakh shares followed by Himachal Futuristic (68 lakh), G V Films (38 lakh), Sterlite Optical (36.60 lakh) and SAIL (25.65 lakh).
