Sensex flat in early trades

The Sensex today opened at 14,377, up 53 points. It surged 118 points to a high of 14,442 but slipped into the negative zone.

The index recovered from its low of 14,308 and is now trading flat at 14,332, up eight points.

Reliance Communications has gained 2.5% to Rs 304. Tata Power and  ONGC have added 2% each to Rs 1,153 and Rs 1,046, respectively.

Hindalco and Grasim have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 83 and Rs 2,260, respectively. Jaiprakash Associates, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Ranbaxy, Sterlite and Tata Motors have moved up 1% each.

On the other hand, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,466 and Rs 689, respectively. Maruti Suzuki has dropped 1% to Rs 1,040.
