Sensex flat in early trades

The Sensex opened in the green at 17,940 and then slipped into the negative zone to touch a low of 17,911. The index is now trading flat at 17,948, up 12 points. The NSE Nifty is two points higher at 5,366.

Tata Power and DLF have added 1% each at Rs 1,397 and Rs 324, respectively.

Hero Honda, ICICI Bank, BHEL and HUL were the other gainers on the index, up 0.5% each.

Wipro, Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma have slipped over 0.5% each to Rs 714, Rs 313 and Rs 1,825, respectively.

The market breadth is positive, out of 1,518 shares traded, 984 have advanced and 473 have declined so far on the BSE.
