Sensex flat; L&T soars 7%

The Sensex is almost flat at 14,512 - up four points.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has soared over 7% to Rs 1,991.

SBI, NTPC, HDFC and Bajaj Auto have rallied around 1.5% each at Rs 1,343, Rs 163, Rs 1,841 and Rs 2,224, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Reliance Energy have dropped over 2% each to Rs 1,119 and Rs 544, respectively.

ITC, Reliance Communications, Hindalco and Grasim have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 162, Rs 513, Rs 143 and Rs 2,475, respectively.

Maruti, HLL, Infosys and Satyam are down 1% each at Rs 810, Rs 200, Rs 1,930 and Rs 467, respectively.

Out of 2,563 stocks traded so far, 1,340 have declined, 1,147 have advanced and 76 are unchanged.
