Sensex flat; NTPC, HDFC firm

The Sensex slipped into the negative zone and touched a low of 12,341. The index has now rebounded into the positive zone and is now up two points at 12,368.

NTPC and HDFC have surged 1.7% each to Rs 132 and Rs 1,415, respectively.

Maruti, Dr.Reddy's, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel and ACC are up over 1% each at Rs 951, Rs 714, Rs 911, Rs 469 and Rs 990, respectively.

HLL has dropped over 2% to Rs 238. Tata Steel has shed 1.7% to Rs 517.

Reliance Communications has slipped 1.4% to Rs 343. Hindalco, Gujarat Ambuja and Larsen & Toubro are down 1% each at Rs 175, Rs 122 and Rs 1,279, respectively.

Out of 2,565 stocks traded so far, 1,344 have advanced, 1,138 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
