Sensex flat; Rel Infra gains 5%; Sterlite slips 5%

The Sensex is gyrating between zones and is now up 27 points at 8,942. Earlier in the day, the index has opened 74 points lower at 8,841, and soon slipped to a low of 8,709. The index, thereafter, rebounded and touched a high of 9,042.

Reliance Infrastructure has surged 4.7% to Rs 508. TCS has rallied over 3% to Rs 523.

Tata Power and Tata Motors have gained 2% each at Rs 644 and Rs 136, respectively.

Jaiprakash Assocaites has moved up 1.8% to Rs 59. ACC and NTPC have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 406 and Rs 152, respectively.

 

Infosys and Larsen & Toubro are down 1.3% each at Rs 1,200 and Rs 770, respectively.

Sterlite has tumbled 4.5% to Rs 209. DLF and ICICI Bank have slumped 3.5% each to Rs 191 and Rs 324, respectively.

SBI has plunged over 3% to Rs 1,146. HDFC and HDFC Bank have dropped 2.5% each to Rs 1,365 and Rs 837, respectively.

Satyam and Mahindra & Mahindra are down over 2% each to Rs 236 and Rs 303, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,136 stocks traded so far, 1,069 have declined, 1,002 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
