Sensex flat; Satyam, Bharti advance

The Sensex is almost flat at 11,976, up three points.

Satyam has advanced 1.4% to Rs 822. Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank have added 1.2% each to Rs 444 and Rs 874, respectively.

HLL, Grasim, Larsen & Toubro and ACC have gained 1% each at Rs 242, Rs 2,417, Rs 2,566 and Rs 954, respectively.

Hindalco has slipped 1.4% to Rs 169. Infosys and Reliance Communications have declined over 1% each to Rs 1,808 and Rs 321, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Tata Steel and Bajaj Auto are the other significant losers.

Out of 2,471 stocks traded so far, 1,390 have declined, 1,006 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
