Bajaj gained 2.7% (Rs 55) to Rs 2,120. Tata Motors was up 2.5% (Rs 14) at Rs 587. Maruti was up Rs 14 at Rs 632.
Wipro moved up 2% (Rs 9) to Rs 445. While TCS was up Rs 11 at Rs 1,547, Satyam was up Rs 7 at Rs 663.
Grasim added Rs 25 to Rs 1,392, and ACC was up Rs 7 at Rs 519.
HDFC advanced Rs 25 to Rs 1,143. Reliance Energy, NTPC and Tata Power also finished with gains.
Siemens zoomed over 8% (Rs 260) to Rs 3,364. Punjab Tractors advanced over 6% (Rs 14) to Rs 219. Crompton Greaves gained over 6% (Rs 46) to Rs 766. Suzlon, IOC, SKF, Bharat Electronics and Dredging Corporation also finished with gains.
Reliance was the most active counter with a turnover of Rs 125 crore followed by Tata Steel (Rs 124 crore), Punjab Tractors (Rs 112 crore), Suzlon (Rs 111 crore) and SBI (Rs 110 crore).
