Sensex gains 136pts, ends at 9686

After scaling to a new all-time high of 9714, the Sensex finally closed with a gain of 130 points at 9,680.

Larsen & Toubro surged 5% to Rs 2,039. BHEL moved up 2.4% to Rs 1,677.

ICICI Bank rallied 4.5% to Rs 597. HDFC surged 4% to Rs 1,281, and HDFC Bank closed marginally into positive at Rs 719. SBI (the major loser in the index) slipped 1.8% to Rs 885.

Dr.Reddy's added 4% to Rs 1,085. Cipla and Ranbaxy, too, finished with gains at Rs 435 and Rs 390, respectively.

While HLL moved up 3.5% to Rs 195, ITC gained 1.3% at Rs 157.

Bajaj Auto rallied 3% to Rs 2,135, and Hero Honda advanced 2.6% to Rs 859. Tata Motors was up 1.8% at Rs 676.

Bharti Tele spurted 2.4% to Rs 356. ONGC gained 2.3% at Rs 1,276.

Reliance slipped nearly 1% to Rs 688.

Wipro added 2.2% to Rs 504. Infosys and TCS moved up 0.5% each to Rs 2,831 and Rs 1,650, respectively. Satyam finished in red at Rs 728.
