Sensex gains 264pts; Cipla, Dr.Reddy's weak

The Sensex is now up 264 points at 18,777.

Tata Steel has zoomed 7% to Rs 981, and Hindalco has soared 4.3% to Rs 197.

Maruti has rallied 3.4% to Rs 1,157. ICICI Bank has advanced 3% to Rs 1,131.

Bharti Airtel, Reliance Energy, Mahindra & Mahindra and SBI have surged over 2% each to Rs 1,010, Rs 1,691, Rs 777 and Rs 1,950, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has gained 2% at Rs 3,470, and Grasim has added 1.8% to Rs 3,720.

Reliance has moved up 1.6% to Rs 2,652. Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto and BHEL are up over 1% each at Rs 784, Rs 2,511 and Rs 2,300, respectively.

Cipla has slumped 4.8% to Rs 187. Dr.Reddy's has shed 2.7% to Rs 613.

ITC, HDFC and HDFC Bank are down 1% each at Rs 183, Rs 2,515 and Rs 1,493, respectively.

Out of 2,714 stocks traded so far, 1,674 have advanced, 965 have declined and 75 are unchanged.
