Sensex gains 52 pts; RIL, ITC firm

While selective gains is seen in most of the sectors, heavyweights continue to propel the gains of the index on strong buying support.

The Sensex has advanced 52 points to 6,716, while the Nifty has gained 15 points to 2,087.

Reliance has advanced 1.93% (Rs 10) to Rs 537. ITC has flared up 2.68% (Rs 42) to Rs 1,599, while ONGC has moved up a per cent (Rs 9) to Rs 920. HLL (down Rs 2 to Rs 143), however, continues to languish in negative territory.

Reliance Energy has soared 3.83% (Rs 19) to Rs 517.

Satyam has logged 1.23% gains (Rs 8) to Rs 670, while Infosys has upped its gains by 1.12% (Rs 25) to Rs 2,252. Wipro is up 1.34% (Rs 9) at Rs 715.

SBI has added 1.23% (Rs 8) to Rs 670. ICICI Bank (up Rs 2 to Rs 392) is still trading with steady gains.

HPCL is down 1.44% (Rs 5) at Rs 335.
