Sensex gains 71pts, ends at 9920

The Sensex closed at an all-time high of 9920, up 71 points.

BHEL surged 5.7% to close at Rs 1,798 following the annoucement of its impressive Q3 numbers. Larsen & Toubro gained over 3% to Rs 2,167.

Tata Motors rallied 3.2% to Rs 709. Maruti was up 1.3% at Rs 757.

Hindalco moved up 2.7% to Rs 165, and Tata Steel spurted over 2% to Rs 404.

HDFC Bank advanced 2.6% to Rs 763. HDFC was up 2.1% at Rs 1,345.

NTPC moved up 1.5% to Rs 115, Tata Power gained 1.3% at Rs 472.

Wipro, HLL and Reliance Energy also finished with gains today.

Gujarat Ambuja slipped 2.2% to end at Rs 88.50.

Bajaj Auto and ICICI Bank declined 1% each to Rs 2,155 and Rs 609, respectively.
