Sensex gains 84pts; ITC up 3%

The Sensex scaled to a new all-time intra-day high of 9642, and is now up 84 points at 9623.

Reliance has gained 1.1% (Rs 11) at Rs 930. ONGC has lost further ground and is now down 1.6% at Rs 1,190.

ITC is firm with a gain of 3% at Rs 148. HLL, however, is flat at Rs 196.

Satyam is up 3% (Rs 23) at Rs 766. Infosys at Rs 3,057 and Wipro at Rs 480 are up 1.5% each. TCS is marginally up at Rs 1,739.

Dr.Reddy's has surged 1.6% to Rs 1,011. Cipla and Ranbaxy are also trading in the green at Rs 442 and Rs 369, respectively.

Tata Motors has rallied 2% to Rs 659 followed by Bajaj Auto, up 1.5% at Rs 2,046. On the other hand Maruti has declined 1% to Rs 659, and Hero Honda is tad weak at Rs 858.

Gujarat Ambuja has moved up 1.5% to Rs 82.30. ACC and Grasim are trading almost unchanged at Rs 547 and Rs 1,431, respectively.

ICICI Bank at Rs 614, HDFC Bank at Rs 722 and SBI at Rs 921 have advanced over 1% each.

BHEL and Larsen & Toubro are also up 1% each at Rs 1,426 and Rs 1,852, respectively.

NTPC has surged 2.5% to Rs 115.

Advances are ahead of declines - out of 2,466 stocks traded on the BSE, so far, 1,533 have moved up, 894 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
