Sensex gains 97pts; Bharti up nearly 5%

The Sensex is now up 97 points at 10,662.

Bharti Tele has surged 4.8% to Rs 396. Tata Power has gained 3.4% at Rs 540.

Maruti, ONGC and Tata Motors have zoomed over 2.5% each to Rs 908, Rs 1,150 and Rs 867, respectively.

ITC and Tata Steel are up over 2% each at Rs 177 and Rs 452, respectively.

HDFC Bank, SBI, Larsen & Toubro, Wipro and Hero Honda are the other smart gainers among the Sensex stocks.

Infosys has dropped 1.4% to Rs 2,865. 

The market breadth continues to remain negative. Out of 2,550 stocks traded so far, 1,318 have declined, 1,158 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
