Sensex gyrating between zones; breadth -ve

The Sensex is gyrating between zones for the last couple of hours, and the index is now up 43 points at 14,287.

Hindalco and Sterlite have surged over 2.5% each to Rs 133 and Rs 616, respectively.

ACC, Reliance and Reliance Communications have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 558, Rs 2,250 and Rs 405, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has advanced 1.3% to Rs 547. Tata Motors and Hindustan Unilever are up 1% each at Rs 423 and Rs 239, respectively.

Satyam and NTPC have plunged around 3% each to Rs 387 and Rs 169, respectively.

Grasim has shed 2% at Rs 1,927. BHEL and Larsen & Toubro have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 1,641 and Rs 2,585, respectively.

 

TCS has dropped 1.5% to Rs 806, and Wipro has declined 1.3% to Rs 416.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,421 stocks traded so far, 1,325 have declined, 1,003 have advanced and 93 are unchanged.
