<b>Sensex hits 17K:</b> up 87pts; tech stocks rally

The Sensex is now 87 points at 16,987.

The index touched a new all-time intra-day high of 17,025.

Satyam has soared 3.3% to Rs 425. Wipro and Infosys have surged around 2.5% each to Rs 447 and Rs 1,813, repsectively. TCS has rallied 2% to Rs 1,023.

HDFC and Reliance Communications have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 2,432 and Rs 603, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Tata Steel and Cipla are up over 1% each at Rs 1,002, Rs 753 and Rs 171, respectively.

HDFC Bank has slipped over 2% to Rs 1,368. Reliance and Reliance Energy are down over 1% each to Rs 2,374 and Rs 1,074, respectively.
