Sensex hits new high, up 291pts; ONGC leads

The Sensex has hit a fresh all-time intra-day high of 20,242 (after 30 trading days), and is now up 291 points at 20,221.

ONGC has zoomed 4% to Rs 1,243.

Bharti Airtel, HDFC and HDFC Bank have soared 3% each to Rs 999, Rs 2,960 and Rs 1,746, respectively.

NTPC has surged 2.4% to Rs 248. Grasim and Bajaj Auto have rallied over 2% each to Rs 3,691 and Rs 2,770, respectively.

Reliance has gained almost 2% at Rs 2,876.

Out of 2,872 stocks traded so far, 2,216 have advanced, 631 have declined and 25 are unchanged.
