While the undertone of the market remains bullish, the Sensex continues to oscillate between 6,590 and 6,600 mark. Barring select metal stocks, buying is witnessed in most of the old and new economy stocks. The Sensex has gained 75 points to 6,598, and the Nifty is up 17 points at 2,077. Reliance has upped its gains by 2.28% (Rs 12) to Rs 535. ITC (up Rs 14 or 1.12% to Rs 1,310) is trading with decent gains. HLL is down a notch at Rs 144. Infosys has added 1.71% (Rs 35) to Rs 2,084. Satyam is up 1.29% (Rs 5) at Rs 409, and Wipro is marginally up at Rs 746. SBI has flared up 2.19% (Rs 14) to Rs 647. While ICICI Bank has gained 1.86% (Rs 7) to Rs 370, HDFC Bank is up a tad at Rs 522 after a subdued trading session since the opening trades. ONGC is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 821. Grasim has moved up 1.48% (Rs 19) to Rs 1,316. While Gujarat Ambuja has inched up by 1.53% (Rs 6) to Rs 401, ACC is up 1.29% (Rs 4) at Rs 338. BHEL has mopped up 2% gains (Rs 15) to Rs 762. While Tata Power is up 1.72% (Rs 7) at Rs 386, Reliance Energy has inched up by Rs 2 to Rs 526. Hindalco is trading lower by a per cent (Rs 13) at Rs 1,433, and Tisco also is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 382. Banking stocks continue to trade in the limelight. Uco Bank has spurted 11.31% (Rs 4) to Rs 37, and Canara Bank has advanced 5.55% to Rs 211. While Andhra Bank has surged 5.33% to Rs 89, BoB has gained 4.72% to Rs 237. J&K Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, BoI, OBC and Union Bank are up in a range of 2-4%. Select stocks are trading with marginal losses. Container Corporation has shed 2.66% (Rs 25) to Rs 910. While Jisco has lost 1.67% to Rs 338, Bharat Forge has declined 1.63% to Rs 1,068. VSNL, Glaxo, Hexaware, Kochi Refineries and Asian Paints are also trading at weaker levels. |
