Sensex in green; breadth marginally up

The Sensex opened 77 points higher at 9,334, and touched a high of 9,380 in early trades. The index, thereafter, has pared gains and slipped marginally into red to a low of 9,253. The Sensex is now up 48 points at 9,305.

Maruti has soared 4.4% to Rs 543, and Mahindra & Mahindra has surged 3.8% to Rs 295.

HDFC has rallied 3.3% to Rs 1,555. ICICI Bank has moved up 2.6% to Rs 419.

SBI and ONGC have gained 2.3% each at Rs 1,137 and Rs 657, respectively.

Tata Motors, Hindalco and Tata Steel have advanced around 2% each to Rs 150, Rs 45 and Rs 180, respectively.

 

Reliance Infrastructure, HDFC Bank and ACC are up around 1.5% each at Rs 565, Rs 925 and Rs 505, respectively.

Ranbaxy has plunged 3% to Rs 207. BHEL and Wipro have shed 2.4% each at Rs 1,360 and Rs 229, respectively.

NTPC and Bharti Airtel have dropped 2% each to Rs 188 and Rs 641, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 1,911 stocks traded so far, 988 have advanced, 851 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
