Sensex in red; Bharti, ONGC down 2%

The Sensex slipped to a low of 9,511, and is now down 17 points at 9,567. Earlier in the day, the index today touched a high of 9,725.

DLF has soared 7% to Rs 147. Mahindra & Mahindra has surged 3.5% to Rs 284.

BHEL has rallied 2.6% to Rs 1,430, and Reliance Communications has added 2.3% to Rs 170.

HDFC Bank has advanced 2% to Rs 937. Tata Power, Ranbaxy, Sun Pharma and Larsen & Toubro are up around 1.5% each at Rs 791, Rs 231, Rs 1,106 and Rs 684, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has plunged over 3% to Rs 560. Hindalco has shed 2.7% at Rs 45.

 

Tata Motors and ITC have dropped 2% each to Rs 139 and Rs 179, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, ONGC and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 654, Rs 709 and Rs 74, respectively.

Tata Steel and NTPC are down around 1.5% each at Rs 196 and Rs 180, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,501 stocks traded so far, 1,279 have advanced, 1,117 have declined and 105 are unchanged.
