Sensex in red; Tata Motors, M&M slip3%

The Sensex opened 40 points higher at 9,242, and touched a high of 9,247 in opening trades. The index, thereafter, has slipped into red and is now down 38 points at 9,163.

Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) have slipped over 3% each to Rs 131 and Rs 274, respectively.

Sterlite and DLF have shed around 2% each at Rs 274 and Rs 137, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, TCS, SBI and Reliance are down around 1%.

Tata Steel, however, has surged 4.7% to Rs 188.
