The Sensex as expected commenced on a buoyant note at 6,940 - up 34 points over its last close of 6,906. As expected Reliance stocks have led the rally, with other sectors like select tech, banking and heavyweights lending good support to the upsurge. The Sensex, which zoomed to its all-time high of 7,000, is now up 89 points at 6,995. The Nifty, too, has registered strong gains and is now up 18 points at 2,41. Reliance Industries has notched up nearly 4% gains (Rs 24) to Rs 625. Reliance Energy has flared up 6% (Rs 36) to Rs 627. ONGC is up 1.28% (Rs 7) at Rs 925. ITC is up 1.15% (Rs 18) at Rs 1,564, and HLL has added 1.51% (Rs 2) to Rs 151. Infosys, TCS, Wipro and Satyam have clocked a per cent gain each to Rs 2,310 (up Rs 21), Rs 1,277 (up Rs 10), Rs 749 (up Rs 5) and Rs 490 (up Rs 4), respectively. ICICI Bank has logged 1.15% gains (Rs 5) to Rs 421, and HDFC Bank is up a rupee at Rs 596. SBI is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 673. Cipla has gained 2.18% (Rs 6) to Rs 291, while Ranbaxy is up a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 1,054. HDFC has shed 1.31% (Rs 11) to Rs 850. |
